The Delaware County Planning Department is sponsoring a Course in Zoning hosted through the Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute.
This course addresses the fascinating, complex, provocative and contentious topic of zoning. Participants learn the fundamentals of drafting zoning ordinances, the relationship between zoning and comprehensive planning, and technique to dealing with problem situations and ethical dilemmas. The role of the planning commission and other individuals, as well as procedures for enacting zoning ordinances and guidelines for rezoning, are discussed in detail.
Topics include:
· A review of the Municipalities Planning Code
· Advanced techniques like overlay and performance zoning, planned residential development, and traditional neighborhood development
· Procedures for enacting zoning ordinances and guidelines for rezoning
The Course was developed as a collaboration between the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Planning Association and the Pennsylvania State Association of Boroughs, through their training agency, Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute (PMPEI), to provide a unique educational services.
This course is designed for new and veteran planning commissioners and local elected and appointed officials.
Upon completion of all three sessions, participants will receive a certificate of completion recognizing their participation.
